About

NJFOG is the only organization in New Jersey with the sole mission of protecting and expanding public access to government records and meetings.

The New Jersey Foundation for Open Government (NJFOG) seeks to increase transparency, accountability, honesty and democracy in government at all levels by defending and expanding public access to government records and meetings.

Founded in 2000 and formally incorporated in July 2001, it is a statewide coalition of organizations and individuals who support open government. NJFOG is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a member of the National Freedom of Information Coalition. It is governed by an elected board of directors representing both organizational and individual members.

In addition to individual contributions, NJFOG has received funding from the National Freedom of Information Coalition, the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation and Rutgers Law School in Newark.
