Teaneck sues resident who filed a multitude of records requests

Teaneck filed suit against a records requestor who submitted approximately 300 requests in a two-month period. The municipality is seeking relief from its duty to respond and wants the requestor stripped of his right to submit future requests. Teaneck officials are claiming harrassment and abuse of OPRA. Most of the OPRA requests were withdrawn, with about 50 outstanding. The outcome of the case could impact other records seekers, including news organizations.
