“Sunshine Act” referendum initiative seeks greater transparency at local level

This referendum initiative in Berkeley Heights seeks to increase transparency locally above that provided by the state’s Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA).  The idea is for enough voters to sign a petition to legally require the proposed ordinance to be put on the ballot as a referendum question.  If passed by voters in the Township, the Sunshine Act becomes local law!   THE SAME MODEL CAN BE USED IN MANY OTHER MUNICIPALITIES THAT HAVE A FAULKNER ACT OR WALSH ACT FORM OF GOVERNMENT!!!  Read more below.
