Dog attack dash cam video on the docket

UPDATE (July 11, 2016):  The Appellate Court issued a published (and thus precedential) decision on June 30, 2016 that the police dashcam video in question is disclosable under the state’s Open Public Records Act.

This APP article concerns a lawsuit brought against the Ocean County Prosecutor seeking a dashcam video that shows a police dog attacking an arrestee. Plaintiff and open government advocate John Paff won at the trial level, and the Prosecutor’s Office appealed. The article features a nice slide show about the story and Mr. Paff, who feels the case could make its way to the NJ Supreme Court and have statewide impact on public access to police videos and other records concerning police conduct.  -NJFOG
