New Jersey celebrates its ratification of the Bill of Rights

November 20, 2015 marks the 226th anniversary of New Jersey’s ratification of the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution.   NJ was the first state to ratify.

Citizen activists and journalists rely on the freedoms and protections provided by the First Amendment to continue their public advocacy and efforts to improve governmental accountability.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” – First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution
