NJFOG reported earlier this week that Senator Loretta Weinberg had sued the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) for records related to the Authority’s abrupt January decision to close the Izod Center in Bergen County.
On March 12, Weinberg sent a letter and attachments to state Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff seeking Izod Center financial documents following receipt of Treasury’s heavily redacted response to her Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request. She wrote that the documents received “are inadequate in responding to my OPRA request in that they do not provide a clear picture of the financial condition which resulted in the closure of the IZOD Center. Those documents which may have provided such clarification were so heavily redacted as to make them useless.”
“There are still many questions regarding the financial position of the IZOD Center which is alleged to have led to its closure. The documents I received in response to my request were inadequate, and I am hoping that I can reach an agreement of cooperation with the treasurer to resolve this matter. This is information the Legislature and the public is entitled to under our laws,” said Senator Weinberg.
