NJ Assembly passes Property Tax Transparency Bill

On Monday, Sept. 29th, the New Jersey Assembly passed bill A3223 (73-0) requiring the state to annually post online complete property tax data, specifically average homestead rebate and average net property taxes, data that earlier this year the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs removed from its site for each of years 2008 – 2012.  The removal followed media reports on tax growth that were unfavorable to the administration.  You can still get the annual data, but you have to request it.  The Senate has not yet taken action on the legislation (S2056).
