Pennsylvania Senate passes DRPA reform bill, New Jersey lags behind

On Wednesday, 9/24/14, the Pennsylvania Senate unanimously passed legislation that would bring the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) under the open public records laws of both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  New Jersey’s version of that legislation, S2013, has seen little momentum, however, in contrast to reform legislation for another bi-state agency, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Recent turmoil at the DRPA, including the departure of its first inspector general and an ongoing investigation into the agency’s spending, demonstrates the need for reform.

New Jersey residents are encouraged to contact their senator and assemblypersons to support the DRPA reform legislation.
